Guys, Is it possible he suddenly doesn't want introduce me to his friend because he likes me?

He wanted us to meet a few months ago, he wanted a double date with him, his girlfriend. The friend and me.
Now he's single, and suddenly won't introduce me to his friend. I was under the impression this was his best friend, but he said he was an ass. And the only reason he wanted to set us up was because he thought the friend was nice.

If it helps, we work together. I know, "don't date coworkers". We are only working fast food though.
Anyway, we often work together now. We are fairly close. We do flirt sometimes. I've noticed he usually takes male customers, usually kicking me off the front.

Other coworkers have told me things like "he was going to fight for you!" When he found out an older delivery guy hits on me. I also lift his mood, I am told.

But that could simply be because we are friends, right?
