What does it mean if a guy friend shows up to your house unannounced?

He did something that made me upset (he was very mean in how he was talking about me to a mutual friend). I like him more than a friend but I don't know if he does the same with me. he's shown signs of being interested in me though which is why i'm confused. just to give you a snippet, he put his hands around me during a movie recently... but then he moved it back 5 minutes later.

ANYWAYS... he wanted to talk to me bc I think he found out that I learned about the convo from the mutual friend. I kept telling him I was busy. so he just showed up at my house and waited 20 min outside before I opened the door. it was only a 5 min convo... something he could've done over text. But he said he wanted to do it in person. SO... what does this mean? why would a guy show up to someones house like that when I kept telling him I was busy?

he just kept apologizing and said he was a bad friend and that I didn't deserve that. I even told him... dude... you could've texted me that... why show up in person? and he just said he wanted to be mature and do it in person. but is he doing this just as a friend or because he likes me more than a friend?
