Why would some men have three wives?

I mean in some countries it does happen but I don’t know if now they’re still allowed to have more than 2 wives.

In a scenario where you only have one wife the relationship is going to go up and down based on whether you're both able to interact in harmony or not. If one person gets in a really bad mood it could harm the relationship. Or if the guy wants sex every day but the wife only wants to give it once a month... ha! If the guy multiples the number of wives then they don't have to be around each other when they're in a bad mood. He doesn't have to get all the sex form one woman either.

In some cultures it is considered deeply shameful for a man to have a wife he can't afford to support. In Africa each wife needs to have her own nice house with servants. Basically a mansion if she has kids. So only rich guys have multiple wives there.

It used to be common to have as many wives as a man could afford to support. Part of that was to lift the women out of poverty. Part of it was to strengthen family ties by binding families together via marriage into one stronger clan. But the biggest part of it was necessity. In ancient warfare it was common for 50% of more of the young men to be killed in battle. That would naturally leave about two or more young women for every young man. Most of those women would have little choice but to share a husband.

For some people it’s a religious thing. It’s their way of life. Having a sister wife to help strengthen the home makes sense to me.


But also wanting exclusivity also makes sense to me as well.

Usually women who know their whole potential and value, suck in bad. So I'd have one wife to accompany me in my social life, but wouldn't really have sex with. I'd have an other wife whose more passionate in bad, but not really a social life material. And I'd have a third wife who wouldn't be a real wife I'd just marry her to provide her citizenship, because I'm such a nice person and care about women.

Muslim men are allowed to marry up to 4 wives by Islamic teachings, while women are not.

Even though a fairly large number of Muslim women hate it when their husband use this religious rule and marry again.

It is a very wrong system, a single man should marry a single woman. Polygamy is just totally messed up and an emotional demolition derby!

well that way at least one would be reasonable at any given time. Also helps when you begin to get a little bored of hitting the same thing all the time-keeps things fresh. If they don't live together then their periods won't sync up and thus no waiting because if one is in the hut then the other two are still fresh. Lots of advantages. Knowing they have competition keeps them sweet and desiring to please.

@Hangry22 Men can be loyal. But biologically we are not suppose to be monogamous. Women only think like women and can’t understand how it is to be male.
When we love, we love... we will give our life for that person. But we can do that for multiple females.
Animal instinct is still in humans.
Women bond to one male, for protection and to provide. (Like lions and prides)

If women simply accepted the difference between men and themselves they could co-exist. But women think a man having sex elsewhere means he doesn’t care for her.
We can love a partner more than life, sex doesn’t bond us like it does women. It’s just a dopamine burst (happy chemical).
