We broke up an year ago. He still is my classmate. We don't really talk but we wish each other on birthdays. He has suddenly started calling me bro. Is he trying to make me jealous? ( earlier I used to call him bro and he hated it)

It depends. I know anytime I talked to my exes, I usually call them “buddy”. Not to be mean or anything, just because they claimed that wanted to be friends.
He could be calling you “bro” because he’s leaving the door open for friendship or to see if you like being called that since you use to do it to him
