Guys, what would make you confess to a girl online but not say it to her in person?

My crush confessed to me on a confession page and asked me out on a date but in reality he just keeps staring at me and quickly looks away if I catch him. He also mostly stares at me from afar and gets speechless around me and looks down when we pass by each other. My friends have noticed that he's tried approaching me several times but then backs out. This has been going on for months.

What's weird is that he's a complete extrovert otherwise and one of the most popular guys in our college. So I find it hard to believe that he isn't able to talk to me or ask me out in person.

I'm wondering should I do something about his confession?

There was an episode of the Simpsons wherein Grandpa, talking to a woman, says "Well, I was wondering if you and I, you know, might go to the same place at the same time and... Geez, you'd think this would get easier with time!". He's clearly a very old man at this point, living in a retirement home.

It doesn't matter how old or extroverted you are, it's always hard to put yourself and your ego on the line like that. If you're interested, by all means, go and talk to him yourself. Even if you're the type to not ask him out (some women are vehemently against that, for some reason), just having a basic conversation should help put him at ease.

Walking up to someone in person to tell them face to face that you have a crush on them can be really scary, no matter your personality type. If he asked you out you should reply lol
