Guys, why st-stutter?

In my friendship with this guy, he's never brought up any other female friend/interest he may have had as we've gotten to know each other over the years. The other night we were on the phone for 5+hrs talking. At one point he said he replied to a female acquaintance in this FB group he's part of. As soon as he brought her up, he hesitated to continue explaining who she was and that she was an acquaintance, and stuttered over his words. He never stutters when he talks, and I've read that people will sometimes stutter if they get nervous.

Do you think he hesitated sharing about her with me because he may be interested in her?
(He did say that she told him she is highly sensitive and struggles with emotional immaturity.)

I think you are reading into it way too much. What does her being highly sensitive have to do with anything?

I didn't clarify; he sounded slightly annoyed when he shared it, so maybe he's not interested in her, but, if not, why hesitate to talk about her?

I don't know, maybe you are projecting your feelings onto this a bit too much? If he's a friend why does it matter if he is interested in her or not?

Naturally I'm a curious person; I observe behaviors in people, so something out of the ordinary happens and I analyze it, hence my curiosity and asking for more opinions on it.

Talking about her makes him nervous, or perhaps only when he talks about her to you.

Or, nervous about what I might think by bringing up another woman?
