Boyfriend laughs at my face?

I tried on new makeup when we talked and he looked me in the eye he started to laugh all of sudden. I asked him what it is, but he continued grinning and said it was nothing while making eye contact. I ran to the bathroom and washed off my makeup cause I thought it could be to do with it. We didn't talked about that again but I'm upset cause prior we had many fights about our relationship I told him I was considering to break up and as we talked he seemed so caring at first but nothing did change and I'm already in a insecure state. Mostly I was the one addressing things as he kept things he didn't liked about me to himself things that occurred longer Than 3 months. I'm not sure if it makes actually sense to stay. I'm very sad I was feeling that make up and it made me gain confidence again until he started laughing.
