Why do guys read a text immediately, but respond later?

so there is this guy who always reads my texts immediately but responds hours later! It’s really frustrating me, his friends have told me that he likes me, but why does he text me like this?

Texting is by nature asynchronous. It will get a response when he wants, which is not always right away.
