Any person who is great with other people is a positive and benefit.

But some girls may see this as that guy being a flight risk, depending on whether he is professional or flirty or friendly, etc. If he likes a lot of other women, and they like him back, even though it's not necessarily psychologically healthy, some will think they don't want a guy like that.

I like guys who have exceptional emotional intelligence, are intelligent, wise, diplomatic, professional at their jobs, capable, competent... but also choose very selectively who they want to associate with on any deeper level.
(Extroverts are generally good with people, and sound like the guy you described above, potentially. Though that guy could also be an introvert who is not particularly shy or lacking any communication skills - which also exists.)

I'm an observer, was a quiet child, very analytical, and the older I get, the more discerning I become. So I don't really care how friendly he is. I care about what's inside, and how deep my connection with him.

I know that each woman is different, but, what are some things that you look for when building a connection with someone? How do you know there's a connection?

That's pretty easy to tell, isn't it?
I am a person who very much believes that males and females can be friends. And there is value in that. I don't see the other sex as only sexual, or life partners, etc. So if we broaden out all relationships to include men and women in other contexts (work, retail service, friends in common, etc.) then yes, maybe there is some element of not knowing if that person is being friendly, warm, because that's who they are, or if it's because of a deeper interest. I'm not sure I can answer that type of scenario. Nor do I want to, with no information.

But "what are some things that you look for when building a connection with someone?" that I can answer.
It begins with some warmth towards me. A smile in the eyes. Lots of eye contact. Then interested conversation. Then deeper conversation. Then they begin trusting me. Then opening up, spontaneously, about anything they choose. I am a pretty/very non-judgemental person, so I hear. People like talking with me about things. I tend not to overreact, or condemn. But I will listen, often intently, and assess. Always assess what I am hearing. I like an easy, honest, deep exchange of ideas. You can't just put any two people together and get the same chemistry, but for me, there are certain traits, and to a lesser degree interests, that I like, and if we bond on those, we usually move on to the more important fundamental beliefs. I can respect honesty, openness, and vulnerability, very much. I don't like conceitedness, false personas, protecting one's ego to the point of deflection... stuff like that. I am very accepting of flaws, mental health issues, etc etc, if a person fesses up to them. So connection, for me, comes from these heart-to-hearts.
