It looks like I'm a bit late to the party. I don't even know how I stumbled upon this question. But I don't see that there's much here to have thoughts about. He wanted to meet her. She wanted money. So they helped each other out. I guess one of the points of having currency is a way to encapsulate the value of labor, goods, services, etc. in a way such that it can be exchanged in a manner that can be easier in many cases than always having to barter. But I suppose bartering would be possible here, too. I don't really understand what the reasoning is of people who assume that he is unintelligent or unwise. He obviously likes the woman. Meeting her in person is probably something he had always hoped to do, and he was able to realize his goal. Perhaps we have different goals than he, but everyone is different. I don't see any reason to shame someone for pursuing their own form of happiness as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. I don't see that he infringed on anyone's rights in this case. If that's what makes him happy, more power to him. In fact, it sounds a lot like something that might be a lifetime dream of someone like @billlewis or people in his situation. This is capitalism at its finest.

It's probably some money laundering scheme and the guy giving the money and the only fans girl are the middlemen in the transaction that wash the money for some drug cartel. Dude in western country receives money in Western country for some fee and give it to girl who spends it in foreign country with some front travel agency. Money is exported from the country in some seemingly legitimate way and then a new mule comes across the border with a drug shipment of five kilos of cocaine which is then flipped on the street for $250K.
