What should I do if he’s not responding to my texts?

My boyfriend and I talked on the phone the other night. I felt like it was a great conversation after a breakup. It didn’t feel like there was any anger and it felt like closure. However, recently he’s been real cold. Tonight I asked him when a good time to get my things would be. He responds with “I’m working all weekend”. I asked him if there was any free time and he’s not replying. I need those things and he’s not being very cooperative. Why is he doing this? The other night, we had a mature, pleasant conversation. Now, he’s acting cold again. Why do you think he’s doing this and what should I do?

Yeah, he’s pissed. Do you really need those things? And he’s not your boyfriend anymore. He’s your ex-boyfriend. Start using the right language. It doesn’t matter what kind of conversation you think you had, he’s mad. And he’s giving you the cold shoulder in retaliation. If you need your things, show up with your ‘new’ boyfriend when you pick them up. Meaning grab a guy friend and pretend. That will make him insane!! Lol... Probably ought not do that actually. This guy has a mean streak. Forget about your shit, you may never get it back. It’s not worth dealing with him and next thing you know your back together and ashamed to say it. Trust me, you should have no problem finding a better replacement.

Well, he may or may not be dealing with the break up. He could also just be that busy... Odds are that he is hurting and since you broke up, he is not making you a priority anymore. He may also be stubborn or in denial and thinks that if he delays in giving your stuff back he'll have a chance to convince you to come back. He's likely just being spiteful, and holding onto your stuff is his way of getting back at you... Your best bet is to keep the pressure on and keep messaging him to get your stuff back. If he continues to refuse (outside of an actual busy schedule), don't be afraid to remind him that it is your property and that this can be considered theft. Cuz he is immature and childish and by him having your things he is using that as a weapon to make you beg , it’s another manipulative control thing , I can see why you broke up with him cuz right here shows his true colors clear as day, if he was mature he would easily given you your things back but now you are dealing with a child, good luck getting your things back , hopefully he realizes how idiotic he is acting and gives your things back soon, you might be better off sending a friend or a family member to His place unexpectedly to get your things back cuz of the way he is acting , if I was there I would knock on his door and get your things back. Did you by any chance end things with him as opposed to the other way around? If so, it sounds like it has sunk in that he and you are no longer together and it's upsetting him.
OR, it could be that he has found someone else and can't be bothered with you any more.

You should go with someone to collect them. He was probably civil before because he was either hoping you'd change your mind and go back or at least get some breakup sex out of it. Either way, don't go alone.

If he's refusing to return your property its technically theft. You might be able to find a friendly cop to help you retrieve it.

He could be keeping them as a power play forcing you to go to him. Giving him the last laugh.

Perhaps consider leaving them there forever, thats a little trick that is infuriating for him but it gives you the last laugh.

What you should do is have someone go with you when you know he is at home. Preferably a guy and a girl. Never get the cops involved. Because they can't do anything. Except make him look abusive. And from what you have said about him. He isn't. He is just hurt.

Asking about getting your things is another blow to him that it is over. He is hurting and angry. That is one possibility. The other is since you aren't together anymore, he doesn't care about what you need. It isn't his problem.

Just give it some time, if you two are meant to stay together he’ll come back and you’ll both mutually agree to get back together and work something out.

If you want that to happen though, give him some space. For now work on yourself and reflect on what things you could improve so that in the event you get back together you’re a better version of yourself
