Why do some men react this way?

I don’t understand why some men respond to a women saying that she is interested in something that is stereotypically associated with men by interrogating her.

Example: “I like hockey.” “Oh really? Who won the Stanley cup in 1974?”

One of the reasons I don’t understand this, I think, is because it doesn’t go both ways. I would never do this if a guy told me that he was interested in something that is stereotypically associated with women. It’s not reciprocal. If a guy tells me that he likes makeup I’m not going to be like “oh really? Name 5 brands at Sephora.” I’m just going to be like “cool. Something we have in common. Something for us to talk about.” Why would I react any other way?

Have guys somehow associated the activities that they like with masculinity and so then having a women say “I enjoy this thing” somehow in their mind diminishes the boost of testosterone they get when they engage in this activity so they have to convince themselves that her interest in it is either superficial or insincere?

The most typical example are gamer girls. Whereas some are actually good and would defeat a decent enough amount of gamers in a competition, most take the occasion to wear the "gamer girl" costume to slut around trying to take advantage of the less socially adapt of the bunch with stuff like Onlyfans and similar. Proof is what many times is easily spottable, such as wrong joypad grip, turned off consoles or erroneously wired PCs.
I made this example for it's the most easily observable, but I'm fairly sure that there are many like those in many other fields.
One of the reasons why men tend to vet women about everything lately.

Depends on the question. Some questions are more of a 'I respect you and want to learn/share info with you.' Other questions could be demeaning because they're low level questions that any idiot should know. I wouldn't go assuming that you get questioned because you're female. Guys ask each other questions all the time. I guess, if you want to get into a male dominated industry/field you can expect guys to treat you like they treat other guys.

They are intimated by it. Heck I played football so guess what my girlfriend learned and knew about. She had to watch me play so why not learn about it. You do not need to be a historian to watch a male sport, you are allowed to enjoy the game for the game without knowing its history. Hell most males do not know a lot about the history of a sport other than their favorite team.

Why people who are interested in something when you say you are interested in the same thing they suddenly talk about the thing and try to gauge how similar the interests are?

The fact you don't get that is why you are just a poser trying to use male typical hobbies to get cred for dick.

In this case I see no reason to presume it's interrogation.
Don't get me wrong, every niche culture has and needs a goal protection modal interaction, but in this case it seems like you are upset that people from a subculture actually care about the subject of the subculture.

A guy that reacts that way is behaving in a disrespectful manner. Perhaps he is a chauvinist. Just because you don't know some detail doesn't mean you aren't passionate about something. Everyone is different and enjoys things in different ways.

Because there are many women that claim to be fans of (insert guy sport) just to endear themselves to guys, and they are phoney af. That's why.

That's actually possible, there is a whole community for turning old consoles like the original xbox into emulator machines that certainly can play mario.

Your experience is not necessarily typical. I have had women do the same thing when I say I'm a good cook.
