I was painfully shy around girls. Even when I knew that a girl liked me I still was afraid to make the first move. One day I just made up my mind I was going to do it and I went to see a girl and I had a whole speech in my head and once I got going it took on a life of it's own.

@loves2learn Yes, when you are in high school you are forced into close quarters with two or three hundred people for 6 hours a day. It is frightening to think that you can be ridiculed for doing something socially awkward. As an adult you can just go home and forget about it.
