We’re coworkers and recently started texting as friends, he had asked where I was one night and I said I was hanging out with out other coworker and his girlfriend and then I said “we should hang out sometime *insert emoji ☺️*” to which he replied “sounds like a plan” .. I obviously know that means he’s down to hang out but would he have worded it differently if he meant anything other than as friends? Also our coworkers have picked up on our energy change and one has asked me if I liked this guy and I said yeah I think so but I’m unsure rn, then she asked him if he liked me and he said “as of right now as a friend” WTF does that mean? I have no idea how to decipher that one…

Keep in mind as coworkers it makes it harder to be too forward.
'As of right now a friend' no decoding needed, he sees you as a friend but is open to it developing further.
'Sounds like a plan' is just a safe neutral yes. If he is unsure in your interest to go past friends he doesn't wanna overplay a hand and look too excited and creep you out (even scarier as a coworker).

It sounds like both of you are interested and curious to see what could be but as pine tree said you'll have to be more forward than you may be comfortable. The whole situation will require communication on both ends.
