How do I know if a guy is trying to be friends with benefits or if he is trying to get to know eachother and doesn’t exactly know what he wants yet?

I don´t know if there is a clear sign for that. The only thing that comes to my mind is that a guy only interested in friends with benefits is more likely to be focused just on sex or just on sexual topics. But doesn´t need to be so every time. I think the best way to get know that is if you ask him. If he knows that he´s looking for a friend with benefits he´s going to tell you.
