I’ve been in a friends with benefits situation for almost a year. We started as a hookup because he had just met but we became friends during the encounters. We see each other once a month sometimes more. Since the beginning we have connected really good, both physically and mentally/emotionally. He has even mentioned many times how unique what we have is and he feels like he can tell me anything. But lately we talk a little more often, and when we see each other it feels different. Now he is more affectionate in & outside of the bedroom. In the bedroom he now holds my hands, kiss my hands, shoulders, looks at me in the eyes the whole time. Last time he actually called me “mi amor” which translates to ‘my love’, and that caught me off guard. It just feels more intimate. After the deed he now wants to cuddle, scratches my back, plays with my hair, is super playful and affectionate & now he wants to have pillowtalk. He also kisses me on the forehead. He always asks what has happened with my ex (ex & I started talking for a bit). He also once told me “You know if you’re ever in trouble or need help, you can call me for whatever.” I have always talked about other guys but I’ve dialed back now. At first he would tell me about other girls but doesn’t anymore. He also says things like ‘oh is it your boyfriend calling’ or things like that (i don’t have a boyfriend by the way) I don't know why he says that. And he also always brings up hypothetical scenarios like ‘if you and I were together…”. But then he is hot & cold sometimes & the mixed signals, but I do notice a difference.
I know that even if he does have feelings for me he won’t act on them. I know that even if we tried a relationship wouldn’t work, but I do want to know if he does have feelings for me now. I do have feelings for him, but like I said it would never work out. Is he being genuine with what he says or just trying to make me fall for him?
