He rejected me but keeps coming up to talk to me, does that mean he likes me?

So there is this guy I like from work. I had worked up the courage to tell him that I was interested in him, he was kinda shocked & asked me "why? you don't even know me." I was kinda thrown off by his question and stupidly said "Because I think you're cute." & then I proceed to ask him if he thought I was cute, He responded "yeah, a little bit." As soon as those words came out of his mouth I swear I died for a minute. He then told me he isn't ready to be in a relationship at the moment with anyone. & then asked me if I was okay & told me not to be afraid to come up & talk to him. The next day at work he said hi 2 me & also the next day after that & before I was leaving work, he told me to enjoy the rest of my day. I was sorta ignoring him because I was hurt, embarrassed and thought it would help me with moving on. Later on that week I then found out that he told his friend that I think that he thinks that I'm ugly, when that's not that he thinks because he actually thinks that I'm pretty cute. over the few days I would turn around or look up & he would be looking right at me, which in return would make me quickly look away. After a week later I found out he had an off & on again relationship w/ a girl who used to work with us. As time went on I would still sometimes look up to see him watching me & looking at me when whenever I am talking to other male coworkers. He would kinda include himself in the convo that Im having with others (not in a rude way). Then I came back from my break he said 'welcome back' 2 me. I didn't say anything but instead made direct eye contact with him & continued walking by. The next day I was staring off into the distance not noticing him coming out of nowhere. He startled me and asked me if I was alright and I responded back "yes" with my hand on my heart. He walked closer 2 me and asked me why I talk 2 everyone but him. later I found out he thinks that I'm scared to talk to him. Is he just being nice? pls let me know.

he told you that you haven't even taken the time to talk to him or get to know him but you felt the need to ket him know you like him.
Now you had the opportunity, after that, to start talking to him and getting to know him, but instead you decided to clam up and be mad at him. He even tried to start conversations with you on multiple times yet your ego was too hurt to follow through and have a conversation.
You didn't even take the chance to try and get to know him and now you're acting like you're the victim because he rejected you.

He isn't interested but I wants to keep things friendly. He might like the attention as well but he seems like a chill dude from what I gather. If you don't want to talk to him just tell him you need some space. I can confirm doing this in the workplace can be stressful for both parties hehe... anyways, you clearly are giving him signs you're upset and he probably wants to see how he can fix it like any guy would feel. I'd just tell him to leave you alone or just be distant with him/not as overt in you ignoring him. Also, not to give you false hope but you never know what the future holds. Stop acting like this and just move forward.
