Dated a guy in high school and his best friend asked me to be his date to a wedding, should I go?

I graduated 8 years ago, and I dated a guy during that time for about a couple months. Nothing major but his best friend definitely knew about me because we hung out together a lot. This guy has been dating the same girl since they were in middle school and now it seems they have broken up as He just recently followed me on Instagram and they no longer have photos together. I know they just broke up because I follow the guy I dated and they recently posted a picture of them all together. I don’t see him in that way but he is indeed handsome. He randomly asked me to be his date to a wedding and I know I’m his rebound because he is obviously hurt he broke up with his girl. The only reason I would go is to have fun. I just want to know your thoughts.

You don't know that he is hurt by his breakup. He is probably relieved now. I can't figure out why you are talking about him being friends with your HIGH SCHOOL boyfriend who was 'nothing major'? You've been out of HS for eight years? Why would that even cross your mind? It's history. Rebound is an overused term that doesn't apply to EVERYONE who breaks up. I would go and have fun.
