I don't know by just calling a friend he is interested in you. Yes there are some signs that if a guy is interested in you...
Let's say if he is a Extrovert and more outgoing then he would kinda always initiate conversations, he would try some ways to meet you, can be a bit flirty... always wanna hangout wid you.

And if introvert he would be nervous and awkward around you..., He would stare at you when u not looking at him , he would not try to initiate any conversations wid you. Maybe you can feel that he doesn't likes you but... he likes you.
