Did my ldr boyfriend lie he lost his phone?

I drew a painting for my long distance boyfriend birthday and wrote him a letter. I got upset when he forgot my birthday and told him that he just said sorry and ghosted me for 3 days. I sent him a few messages if he is okay. They were all delivered and he was active on instagram the following day. Suddenly on 3rd day he texts me saying that he has lost his phone and lost all his contact info. And that he is sorry for everything that he couldn’t celebrate my birthday. Should I trust him?

You know the truth. You know if you should or shouldn't trust him. I really don't want to stir you to either trust him, or not to trust him. However, from your post, you are concerned and I don't think you believe him. It should t just be about him "losing his phone", it's about his actions. He was on Instagram, he ignored you for three days and didn't say much to make you feel better about forgetting your birthday. In a relationship, I understand people might draw back, but this is something that needs to be discussed. And I'm sorry, but he didn't really do that. Either or, you deserve to be happy. You deserve to be in a relationship where you don't need to wonder if they like you, if they're cheating on you or if they're lying. And he made you questioned whether he was being honest to you. That it not okay. But, you should talk to him about it. Also, listen to your gut. You know him better than we do :)

Thank you for putting time into writing this. :) You put more effort into explaining it to me than he ever wrote. My gut is telling me something is going wrong but I feel like I don't want it to go like that. So I just want to hear someones opinion altough I know it is about him and I.

I asked him that today where he found his phone. He said he bought a new one and didn't say how he got contacts back...
