Do some guys like to keep validation from women?

Ok I know this is a weird question and stuff but I have no guys in my life to ask. Do guys ever purposely hold back compliments or attention for a girl to feel in control?
I feel like I’ve been abused this way probs. I think that both men and women do this, but women seek out validation more cause society

I can't imagine this is true. Men tend to feel in control by default.

Compliments tend to flow one way in life - from men, to women. Men will tell you, they almost never get compliments from women. Men give compliments to women (they like) all the time.

I suppose if a man doesn't like you, he probably won't compliment you. But that has nothing to do with feeling in control.

I know some guys who are super nice to everybody around them and very mean to their partner. I don't understand why that is but I'm pretty sure that's not a characteristic of love.
