Is body language of attraction for real?

I’m pretty sure when you google signs that a guy likes you, you will get something vague.

Such as preening, many guys mess up/flatten their hair because the social situation makes them anxious.

recently I have been observing this guy because I find him cute, but I am not sure if my feelings caused me to have confirmation bias.

What I have noticed:
When he stands across the room, his feet point towards me. (I know it’s ridiculous, because it is such an insignificant and coincidental sign).
And when he sits near me, he spread his legs apart. Like not normal kind of apart, really very far apart. I get amused when I think of the possibility that he is showing off his privates to me. But after years of failed body language reading, I have learnt to take this with a pinch of salt.

But does anyone find body language to be a good predictor?

That's a pretty interesting question. I studied a lot of that stuff when I was younger because I was A LOT more insecure than I am now. Look, it's not all bullshit, but it doesn't work as a predictor. If you meet one hundred people, then sure, those who are attracted to you will be more likely to show these signs. Statistically it might make some sense. But if you're looking at ONE person and you are trying to understand if THAT person is attracted to you? No way you can rely on that stuff. No way at all. Just trust your gut instinct, that's usually more telling.

It is good to include in the assessment of finding out if there is interest, but should not stand all alone.
Like when I talk and flirt with a man I have an interest in, with some I can clearly feel if their body also reacts to mine, like when getting physically closer.. if he retracts that is a bad sign, if they get nearer then maybe one can get even closer and eventually touch each other.
I don't look so much at single signs, for example there can also be something in the way he looks at me, with the way he talks, obviously also what he actually says :D. It is a combination of the whole situation and a gut feeling that I get, though it took years of experience to feel somewhat secure in that feeling.
