Why is he confident around other girls but shy around me?

This guy is super confident other women. I've seen him chatting quite a few up. However when I talk to him he becomes nervous and shy. He comes near me and while making eye contact but he never actually starts conversation? What is going on?

He’s probably attracted to you and is a little intimidated to talk to you. He’s more than likely struggling to make conversations since he’s more than likely overthinking what to say to you (basically so he doesn’t say something stupid). I only say this because I was like this to my crush at first. 😅 Thankfully this guy is usually good at starting conversations, so we usually have a good flow when it comes to communication. If you are a good conversationalist, I’d recommend you to smile to him when he sees you and start a conversation about something you two might have a similar interest in. Once he gets comfortable around you it won’t be nowhere near as awkward.

I would love to try and start conversations but he's very rarely close enough to try. Since I wear a mask in public spaces it's been hard to smile at him. So I've been waving at him hoping he'd come to me and talk but he just awkwardly waves back and keeps walking

Because he probably sees you as different from those girls, or he likes you way more than them. Or, he may like you so much he sees you as out of his league and therefore scary to talk to

I'm so surprised that could even be the case lol I'm not ugly by any means but he is extremely attractive. I'm also very different than his exs and from the girls he usually talks to.

I'm a little shook that he would like me. He's a very attractive guy with a lot more dating experience than I have. It's kind of throwing me that he's struggling so hard

Well, I would have to see pictures of you and he (and the other girls for that matter) to really know this, but YOU HAVE NO IDEA how absolutely hard it is for a young guy to approach you.

The girls he hits on are usually your typical skinny blonde girls. I'm a short, thick girl with blue hair and tattoos. So drastic difference in my opinion lol the guy is a tall half white half Vietnamese hipster guy.
