My boyfriend called me ugly “as a joke” but I can't stop thinking about it. Am I just being sensitive?

My boyfriend knows i’m insecure so I don’t understand why he did this. I was looking at a clothing item at a store and i said “this is ugly” and he replies “just like you” and starts laughing it off. He saw I got mad and he was like “ it’s a joke, take a joke” But he never apologized or said anything else. He also doesn’t compliment me that often so hearing that kind of made me upset. Is it bad that I feel hurt by this?

So here is the thing u fully have the right to be upset but understand why u are upset does he actually think u are ugly no we both know he dont he simply joked about a subject that he clearly shouldn't have every relationship is differnt and with that comes context in mine for example my girl will make jokes about my weight and ill joke about her long forehead but we have established that there is no malice with these comments

Nah really though stand up for yourself, that was more of an insult than a joke. Also wasn't funny at all, tell him to improve his sense of humor too

Guys can be sarcastic, most of my guy friends will joke with me as they know I get it’s a joke. He doesn’t think you are ugly. :D

No, you are not being too sensitive. I would break up with them. They should always be in your corner and your biggest cheerleader. Never insulting. There is a time to be honest. Like opinion on clothes but it certainly did not need to be that harsh and insulting you is completely unacceptable.

the girl i like, keeps poking fun at the idea that she thinks i have a thing for blondes. i don't. i mean, yeah, maybe ill sort of gravitate towards them butttt, i actually prefer redheads. she's a brunette/raven/all colors girl (it's currently black with blue low lights) but because she once saw me with a blonde, she thinks im only into blondes. of course, she is usually just joking about it, and i play it off like it too. it's just funny banter back and forth.
