When will he ask me to be his girlfriend?

I have been speaking with this guy for nearly 2 months now. I live Scotland and he is England although it's not a huge distance between us there is a few hours. We had a great weekend together, probably one of the best weekends I've had. I thought when I got home he'd have made asked me to be his girlfriend but he hasn't. He's talking to me a lot more than he did before we met so I get the impression he had a great time too. How do I go about asking him what we are or is it too soon? I just feel with the distance etc it would good to know whats going on between us. How do I bring this up to him?

Just do it. Nike Style. You can't control what other people do. You wait around for them and you could wait your entire life and die some gray-haired old lady talking to herself in a nursing home still waiting for when the guy does something. You control what you do.
