Didn’t have my card (only cash) on date and I didn’t realise the bar he taken me to had only card. What would he have thought?

Like baring in mind the server was this guys friends anyway So my date paid first two rounds of drinks then it was my turn the server said it’s card only I was like oh no really, ummm can’t I pay cash? then after the server said no and there’s now awkward silence

my date loudly said “do you not have a card” I said no not with me I only have cash it’s in the car and it was a total awkward silence.
i said do you mind getting this and I’ll give you the money? and he looked at the sever with a wide eyed “what the hell.” Expression and said oh I suppose I’ll have to pay it then he asks him how much it was so he can I guess remind me of it. It was £9.70 I immediately handed him a £10 just because.. embarrassing. Is it as bad as I think it is? I genuinely just did leave my card as I had enough cash to get drinks / food and a taxi home.

He sounds like a bit of a dick, hate places that are card only as I often don't take a card out with me, I prefer using cash.

He could have just said yes of course no problem, or if he didn't have enough to cover it on his card he could have suggested going to another place that wasn't card only.

Any other issues came up with this guy, sounds like a tool?

I don't know but then I wouldn't have gone to a card only bar because I do almost everything in cash

Yeah the fact he said out loud “do you not have a card?” As though to embarrass me, had it been me in his position I would’ve said to be person silently and discreetly do you need me to cover that for you for now then? Or something of that nature

That's understandable. I'm sorry he overreacted. In the future, though, it's a good idea to carry around your card, especially with the way businesses are responding to the pandemic.
