Why do a lot of men gain weight when their girlfriend or wife is pregnant?

I think it's a combination of things.

I think obviously when a woman is pregnant, they are less active. Carrying around that extra weight, and on top of that eating more than usual.

A lot of couples do these activities together, so when she stops being as active, so does he. Sitting on the couch right there with her, and when the food starts flowing, most people are gonna have an extra bite or 2 if their partner is eating as well.

And then if that food is unhealthy on top of that, well you have a recipe for both people gaining weight. Not a doctor, just observant.

Most don't workout and watch what they eat.

It's pretty easy to go with the flow and eat like the wife.

Trouble is, the guy isn't burning a lot of those calories into a baby, thus the gut tends to grow fast.

😂 My husband gained twice as much as I did when I was pregnant. He went from slim to dad bod and man boobs. He eventually lost his baby weight too.

I think it had something to do with him eating 2 ice creams for my every 1. His friends all poked fun at him. Poor fella. 😂😂😂😂

Well pregnant women in general have a change of appetite, eating habits and activity level when pregnant. So the guys who spends a lot of time with their SO, usually experience the same type of change in their eating habits and daily routines, and physical activity as well. So they put on weight as well, and once you have the baby your day to day lifes never really go back to what they were, and your entire life style changes.

Well you're gonna eat the same junk food she's craving, not cooking 2 meals.

Some guys sit around to help her with all sorts of shit so probably not just going to abandon her at home to go on bike rides, hikes or even hit the gym with the guys while she sits at home.

A lot of people just fatten up after dating cause you've attracted a partner, not as much need to be attractive anymore.

Also to be a little controversial, I know this will upset some ladies but women don't really need to gain weight during pregnancy. I know it was news to me to I thought they had to but I have a coworker, she started at 130pounds and somehow even up to like 5 or 6 months with the little baby bump was still 130 pounds, baby seems healthy enough so technically you don't need to put on weight to have a baby.

This is actualy because during pregnancy the woman craves more fatty foods and thus the man's diet also changes resulting in a bit of belly bulging. And if anything its a good excuse for both to diet and exercise after a pregnancy.
