So I've been friends with this guy since the sixth grade and now we're both in 12th grade and for a few months I've had a big crush on him and I've been thinking of maybe telling him I like him but I don't want to make things weird between us and end up ruining our friendship

I've decided I'm not going to tell him because its just too big a risk that I tell him, he doesn't feel the same way and our things become weird

Why not try to feel it out by doing something together. Make it more "date-like". What I mean is invite for a lunch or dinner. That will give you the opportunity to feel the situation out before taking the plunge.
