Why would a male friends with benefits always tell me that he sleeps with other women?

Trying to get a reaction. Why? Maybe he wants more with you than friends with benefits, but isn't sure how to get there or scared he'll be seen as a "PUSSY" for being the first to cave to his feelings where women traditionally are usually the first to reveal feelings.

But if he tells you that he is having sex with other women, he may be hoping that you will give up on the emotional part of the relationship but still want to stay with him for the sexual benefits.

Well we’ve been friends with benefits for many many years. This has been the status quo with us for the entire Time. I have feelings he can’t reciprocate and round and round we go. I think this might be a case of him managing my expectations.
