It goes both ways! I've had 3 girlfriend's in my life, so far and 2 of them cheated on me while, in the meantime, I was VERY loyal to them! You COULD say that number 2 cheated, too because, shortly after we got together, we were away from each other for a couple months, during which time, she went back to an ex of hers.
