Can someone explain the reason behind this? I really don't get it...
For some, it's like their heart's got this endless guest list, and they're all about welcoming in more than one love. It's not about being greedy or indecisive—it's just that their kind of love doesn't fit into a 'just us two' box.
Picture this: you're at a concert, vibing to the music, and there's different bands playing. Each one hits a different note that just gets you. That's how it feels for poly folks with their partners—each relationship is its own tune, creating this complex, rich soundtrack to their lives.
But let me tell you, it's like playing life on hard mode sometimes. Juggling multiple relationships means you've got to be an ace at keeping things crystal clear with everyone. Miscommunication? That's your arch-nemesis. It's about trust, and a whole lot of talking—like, imagine the longest, most open-hearted late-night convo, and then put that on repeat.
And when life throws curveballs, having multiple partners is like having a squad of superheroes ready to swoop in. Whether it's a shoulder to cry on or someone to celebrate with, there's usually someone in the poly fam ready to step up.
It's not just about the warm and fuzzies, though. It can get rough. Every relationship is a mirror, and when you're in a few at once, you're looking at a hall of mirrors showing you every angle of yourself, the good, the bad, and the stuff you might rather not see. It's intense self-discovery, and not everyone's up for that kind of ride.
Sometimes it's just about not having all your eggs in one basket. Maybe one partner is great to talk philosophy with, and another just gets your Star Wars references. It's like different friends for different reasons, but with a romantic twist.
Life's all about change, and for poly people, love is fluid. Someone new might join the mix, or the nature of a relationship might shift. They roll with the punches in a way that would have most monogamous folks dizzy. And for some, it's just in their DNA. Asking them to not be poly is like asking them to change their laugh—it's so them that to not be poly would be like being someone else.
But let's not sugarcoat it—polyamory's not the easy road. It’s not about secret flings or not committing. It's about everyone on board signing up for this big, sometimes complicated, always honest love adventure with their eyes wide open. It’s custom-made love, where the rules aren't written by tradition, but by the people living them, day in, day out.

It couldn't leave you with no future well with nobody in it I've seen that play out The whole purpose of it is to have back up for what happens when they take away your backup as well.
That means that one person likes more than one person at a time for example let’s say I lile four girls, it doesn’t mean to be a player if you have an interest in all of them;instead for example I would try to use my chances and get close to wichever one of those four I had the chance to and so if let’s say today I had a chance to get closer to one and the next day Another one, I would do it naturally lile you would individually do for each;so it’s just that the human population is too wide and some times you can find more than oone person that you truly like and you can’t compare them so theoretically it would be possible to marry even 4 people and be right (morally) for as long as wich each of those 4 you would have a deep true bond and attachment!!

It's very complicated...
Basically over the course of the last 20 years most men and women were able to express themselves more even in private. This made polyamory more frequent since partners now share their inner interests together. It mostly originates from lust but sometimes both parties agree. In the end is all about communication and how much are you willing to share your love with someone else. Not everyone is the same though, as many of us still want a serious monogamous relationship but we are many in this planet and each one of us has a head of its own10 Reply

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThey have a very warped view of love. It's probably mainly lust with them. Not saying that they can't have feelings or even fairly deep feelings about multiple people. But as I said it's warped. I don't want to straight up call them selfish. Because maybe their too warped to even realize it. But when you really truly love someone you don't want another partner. Partly because you simply are not drawn to anyone else. But also because you wouldn't want to hurt your partner. Because to hurt them would be to hurt yourself. With polyamorous people this doesn't compute. Or they simply don't care about anyone else more then themselves.

+1 yToo much of an abundance mindset.. They probably gain feelings for a person and feel like they are just right for them, but they don't wanna leave the security of their current relationship because they care about their current SO. They're probably kinda bored and getting with other people spices up the relationship for them. They just want their cake and to eat it too.. Instead of focusing on one relationship they'll hope from one to the other one day and the next.
30 Reply enough with the sugar coatings, they do it because they are either bored or lustfull, they don't take relationships as seriously as they should and look at their relationships like the look at their friendships, they are fickle and just wants the freedom more than stability, they want to have their cake and eat it too that's all.

Because they break down the act if sex being somthing to only be shared with a intimate partner and are fine with the person they are with also having sex with others although most are not suited for this type of relationship as jealousy tends to kick in

+1 yI don't understand either. Some people I know are in one. She gets to screw around as much as she wants. He is miserable. He can't divorce, because he'd lose half of his income and pension. He's trapped.
