My crush pulled away suddenly?

Initially my crush was very jovial now ( during those days I didn't like him later I started liking him) I don't know what's wrong with him he is very formal around me, he wouldn't mind avoiding me if given a chance, the worst part is he talks only when I ask something, while I interact comfortably he is super hesitant to talk... I don't even want him to reciprocate my crush at least I hope him to be normal around me. There are many changes like
He got angry when I thanked him for something now even he started doing the same, he was the one who asked my number and used to text me frequently now only I do that, he is not open about anything to me
I wonder why is he like this, I really need help on this

Here's the update guys, few days ago he had happened to sit next to me only because his friend told him so, he was very awkward around me, I tried to ease it by asking general questions like his hobbies but he said he doesn't have any, even some other questions also same thing, he was very nervous to sit next to me, fidgeting with his phone, maintaining eye contact only when I was answering the questions that I myself asked (lmao), he's very scared of me I feel like a terrible person

I never called him, he came only because our classmate insisted on it

I'm not sure but maybe he knows that you like him or something like that... Even if you haven't told anyone, some guys tend to overestimate girls over little things, like I talked to a guy before and he said that I liked him even though I didn't, all because I talked to him once in nice way like I do with anyone else... So maybe he thinks that you like him and started to play hard to get to see what you're gonna do, in that case, try to act cold like if he was a normal friend like any other and see his reaction

I don't think he's someone who would assume a girl to be liking him only because she's nice with him considering most of his friends to be females, it's either he knows I like him and doesn't feel the same or he misunderstood that I don't like him hence he pulled away
I don't have to act cold I'm naturally a cold person at least that's what I get told a lot

He was being playful around me like if I ask him did he finish his lunch he would prank me by saying no
