Why is he sending me messages between him and his ex?

To preface a little, this guy and I are good friends, but want to date each other, but in reality neither of us are ready. He send me screenshots of his ex texting him (she's blocked but somehow the messages came through), why would he send me the screenshots of what she sent him? He responded back but pretty much ignoring everything she said and saying she must've mean to message someone else. Why send me this at all? I don't get it. I need guy behavior explained on this one because I don't understand. Please don't call me stupid.

He sees you as a good friend. Tell him to just ignore her and block her again she must be calling from a new number or the phone company messed up the first time. Also if you both like each other screw not being ready and just go for it before this guy friendzones you (which he’s already halfway doing).

I don't believe in the friendzone. Neither of us want our previous relationship issues to spill into the new relationship, if we were to pursue each other. There's also an 18 year age difference.

Okay. But I’m telling you, he’s unconsciously friendzoning you and there’s a chance you may lose him to his ex or another woman if you don’t act.

I already made it clear what I wanted it and already told him if he were to go back to his ex we were no longer friends. It's in his hands what happens next. Dude isn't far from over his ex. We went out and all he did was talk about her almost the whole time. If I lose my shot with him, then it simply isn't meant to be.

Found out a lot about this guy last 24 hours. His ex can have him. He's a very toxic person. A lot of red flags that I chose to ignore because I liked him. A LOT.

He's an idiot and I bet he never blocked her. If I had to guess, Id say he's doing it to make you jealous, but you need to ask him.

I think you're right. I ask him but he lies about things and contradicts himself constantly, he said he sent it because we were friends, thing is he's never sent me screenshots before so why now. I learned a lot in the last 24 hours. Pretty sure it was to make me jealous after talking to a friend, but it didn't work. He's a very toxic person.

I am. There's a list of red flags my friend listed to me and said I needed to get away from the train wreck and probably not even be friends with him. We hung out recently and all he seemed to do is talk about his ex negatively.
