Do exactly that. Tell him you are uncomfortable and that you don't feel like it is a good idea to send those types of photos moving forward.

You can do it in a polite manner. If he cares for you at all, he will understand and respect your decision.

Yes, someone that respects and understands your position certainly cares for you. If they didn't, they wouldn't care what you said or fight you on it. If he understands your not comfortable, I'd say he does indeed like you. That is a sign of respect when you can clearly communicate with your partner.

You just have to tell him that you were uncomfortable. You can say it nicely but with boundaries up.
You’ll know by his response and reaction if he is someone worth staying with.
