Does he really not like me more than a friend or is he hiding the truth or something?

My guy friend told one of my friends that he doesn’t have feelings for me like that (meaning more than a friend) but 2 of my female friends including her, have told me they really think he likes me, like they’re pretty sure about it. Because the last few months including the last couple times I hung out with him, he was different than he usually was all the rest of the time me and him have known each other. He gives me a lot of compliments that are more meaningful like about my heart, personality, my good traits and that deeper stuff. He basically never complimented me like he’s been the last few months. He loves to make me laugh and we playfully tease each other lightly and we laugh and enjoy each other’s company. And I’m a very affectionate person, so I love hugs and any affection, and he normally didn’t like anyone at all hugging him or being close to him. The last couple times we’ve hung out, he let me sit right next to him, hug him, put my head on his shoulder and give him kisses. Some of the compliments he’s been giving me are: the last couple times we hung out you were always so full of love and respect, 2) you’re a very sweet, caring, loving girl and you’re very intelligent even if you don’t realize how smart you are. Don’t forget that. Also, he spends a lot more time video chatting me nowadays. Before, he wouldn’t last more than 5-10 minutes and now when we talk, he’d rather video chat than text which always flies by and it ends up being 2 hours to 2 and a half hours. Also, we’ve had sex before once a couple years ago and now somehow we’re still good friends. Which is different from usual, because usually when a guy and girl have a ONS the guy doesn’t want anything to do with her again after.
But somehow he tells my friend that he doesn’t have feelings like that for me. I’m so confused. Please help?
Does he really not like me more than a friend or is he hiding the truth or something?
