Does he like me more than a friend?

Here’s the background: 2 years ago we met at work. It started with him coming to see me at work, he would always ask how I am and ask me how life is etc, and we would have very long corridoor chats. I must admit- I thought he liked me, just by the way he looked at me and how long we would talk for. In group events he would always come and sit with me and we would talk for hours, time would pass so fast. I really enjoyed being with him and in his company.
6 months later I found out he had a girlfriend, through a friend, not by him. I was devastated. I sucked it up and moved on… at least I tried to.
fast forward 2 years and we are now really close friends, we text almost every day- back and forth throughout the day. He finds me after work and waits for me to finish off then we’ll go and grab a drink or whatever.
we also have 1:1 time on off days too and often go for a drink.
im not sure what’s going on with his girlfriend or if she’s still in the picture, it doesn’t really get talked about whenever we meet.
Although I must admit that recently I think our relationship is less flirty since we’ve gotten closer and before he would text me constantly; I’ve noticed now we’ll have a day or 2 break. I’m not sure if this is because we are just so close and comfortable now or if he’s losing interest.
But I say losing interest.. was he ever even interested at all? 2 years later and I’m just as confused as I was back then.
perhaps we really are just good friends, but do guys really invest this much time and effort into a good friend? Let me know! Thanks
