I recently told a close friend my feelings for them and he texted me saying "I'm sorry I don't think I'm the right guy to be catching feelings for" I just want to know what does it mean when a guy tells you he isn't the right guy for you I feel like I'm grasping for the right answer but I don't know I need help I'm so dumb

Seems like a very mature thing to say, you should definitely ask him more about it. There's no use forming you're own explanation when only he can give you a straight answer. If it were me, it'd probably be because he doesn't want to hurt you in the long run. Who knows?
