Why would he say this to me?

I was hanging out with this guy and we were laying in bed talking no sex. He said he was nervous with me. He said he knew he wasn't treating me right and he has to treat me better. After saying this he didn't improve he actually became distant. Why would he say this? I asked him if anything was wrong and he said no, but is still distant.

I know it’s so weird. If I was over someone I would definitely not look at their social media. It literally makes no sense.
