Why the sudden interest?

Long story short: went on date with a guy. Nothing came out of it and we became friends since we have the same social circle. He was invited to go out with us last week but he canceled on us because he wasn’t feeling well. He text me how it went and I told him we all had fun but eventually everyone left or was too drunk so it was just our friend (male) and me at the end trying to make sure everyone got home safe. He asked if we kissed which threw me off guard since my friend and I are not romantically interested in each other. He’s been texting me lately and asking how I’m doing. Can someone explain why he would have a sudden interest in what I’m doing?

Hard to say. Might be general curiosity. Might be him wanting you to get out there. Might be him trying to be a matchmaker. Might be him being into you.
