No, I would contact her more. Coz having a female best friend means you've got emotional support. This is the best time to have it. So no, I would contact her more.

But we are best friends and we used to chat everyday for hours even when he was working 12 hours every day. May I know what I can do to save this friendship? He has been unemployed for 3 years already and I don't even mind. Employment is not needed for friendship.
But whenever I initiate, he would chat non-stop for up to 5 hours till 3am and won't let me sleep. He always tells me he is lonely and is in despair.

He is so broke that he doesn't even have money to eat and has been depending on his family for his meals and a shelter these 3 years. I also help him financially from time to time.

I have contacted people less when unemployed. Less to share in general and feel more of a loser comparing myself to others, which I do more when socialising.

Its because he doesn't want to be seen as a loser.. Most women, and honestly society at large sees an unemployed male as worthless.
