When we talk during conversation he often says ”my bad” . Why is he so apologetic?

More like if I’ve asked something about him ” I’ve noticed that you haven’t texted me first that often”
Then he has said my bad etc…

Or when he has said something that he’s been wrong like fior example he didn’t know the meaning of one particular slang word and I was right about. He then said “ my bad, you’re right about that”
I was playfully teasing him about the slang word. It wasn’t even something that I was serious about.
