Is it shyness from him?

I met a guy lately, everything went quite rapidly between us (a lot of passion). A few days ago he told me about his feelings… After that we went to a dance class together and I noticed he was more « avoidant » : like he couldn’t do eye contact, and at the class/practice he was a bit avoidant too. (After that we came back together and he was a lot more demonstrative) How do you understand this?
Is it shyness from him?
