Why is it that the most stereotypically masculine men are usually more worrisome/protective over their woman and who she’s been with sexually?

So, I’ve been around these types of men nearly all my life.
What I’ve noticed is that they are usually not as forgiving, lenient, or dismissive over the sexual past of the woman they are seeing.

They’ll make a lot of jokes on this stuff like they don’t really care how promiscuous or “slutty” their woman is, but it’s all just jokes.

When they are serious with a woman, they want them all to themselves. They want their woman as theirs.
MMA fighters, first responders, combat arms military, etc.
They’ve nearly all been the same in one main regard:

Dislike over women who are known as “sluts” and “whores.”

These are assuming the men are somewhat confident and secure in themselves.

I feel like, the LESS self-respect a man has and the LESS security he has in himself, the more he’ll accept
or tolerate the same in a woman.
