he is rarely online and responds to me when he is but I feel if he really liked me he would get online more and be trying to see if I responded etc he would be thinking of me and maybe reply more frequently than once per day to once every second day

context: he’s a guy I had a crush on when we where 9 years old - 14. he didn’t like me back. I seen him in a bar two weeks ago after he approached and complimented me. We have been texting ever since he did hint meeting up

Well, every bar hook-up I ever had was a situation where if I gave them a number, it was to the same phone I had people calling when they wanted to buy things. Generally only checking that from like 6 PM-2AM.

I mean, hooking up in a bar COULD lead to a long term relationship... generally you're just there to get laid though. It's possible times have changed, but I can't remember even short term relationships coming out of bars. NSA 100%

remember i grew up with him though and he came to me more on some “long time no see” stuff. He actually approached me two more times after I excused myself because I had to join my friend who didn’t like being left whilst I spoken to him. I guess truly if he likes me and I’ve been responding he will ask to hang out and make a concrete plan

Anyway, have you tried simply asking why he's so busy, and if he's into you in a romantic way, or more a pump and dump kinda way?

Yes that is what that means, continue on with your life conversate with other guys and don’t give him too much thought. It’s fine to be friends but I wouldn’t have any real feelings invested in him if I were you
