What does emotional attachment mean?

A guy I am friends with said he has an emotional attachment to me. What does that mean?

That means he cares about you and would be sad if you were gone. It doesn’t necessarily mean that he has romantic feelings for you tho, but it definitely alludes to the fact that he does care a lot about you and enjoys your presence, you make him feel good. Like for example, I am emotionally attached to my dog - I want him around me and would be devastated if I lost him.
