Relationship advice... is he cheating?

Question

My boyfriend and I got into a fight (we had lived together). He told me that I should go stay with my parents for a few days and think about who I am as a person. (Long story short i am going to move back in with my parents because it'll hopefully improve my mental health). While I've been at my parents he's been distant and just seems like he doenst care even though he says he does. The second night I was at my parents, he was on snapchat on the phone with someone the entire night and even fell asleep on the phone together. I had asked him about it and he said it was a guy friend that he made off of an app. Honestly I feel like there's someone else and he's not being honest about it. Don't know what to do.

It is possible he is cheating and it is also possible that he isn't. The question is do you believe him? Sounds like you have some doubt. If the doubt is there, damage done. You are always going to have that feeling that he did.

If that is the case, best break up and move on. If you cannot have trust in a relationship, it is over. No sense in dragging it out. Now, on the other hand, if you think he is truthful, sit down and talk about it.

He is allowed to have friends, right? Maybe he was just chatting to a buddy late night. Perhaps he was talking about your situation. Maybe he needed an ear to listen to him about the move. That is a big deal after all.

Now, I also get why you are moving. Mental health is important to get sorted. It sounds like you did the right thing by taking some space and he should respect that. Getting yourself mentally right will only improve the relationship.

It sounds like he has checked out of the relationship, especially since he suggested you move back to your parents. Do you still want to be with him? maybe the time apart will make you get. A better understanding of what you want and give you a chance to reflect on your relationship.

As for the Snapchat, you just have to take his word for it. Your relationship has other problems to worry about first.

Either way, these ALWAYS are two- sided. The emotional and physical separation is well on its way. It’s not easy for a man to get there especially if there’s been sex and the emotional attachment (love) that men identify with that.
—It sounds like the “bonding” has broken down. This kind of thing usually is set in motion a year past etc…. Look back and find the “last straw”.
You do not want to repeat this in next go around. This possibility needs to be eliminated. Be honest with yourself. What ya going to be like emotionally if the next time around ends like this time?

Let me ask you this.. If he was concerned you might break up with him, would he spend the whole night on the phone with someone else?
I think he WANTS you to break up with him,, much like a terrorist wants the police to shoot them.. He's a coward that cannot admit he doesn't want to be with you anymore.

IF you decide to break up with him I suggest you prevent him contacting you for a couple of weeks.. make him feel what it's like to really miss you.. THEN end it.. don't give him the satisfaction of doing his dirty work for him!
