Why do men tell me to smile?

I don’t want to be told to smile... some older man today, probably 55 said that to me.

Because just like women read emotions men tend to read facial expressions and everything physically so therefore if your face looks as though it's mixed up sad angry frustrated, most will tell you to smile to see if it improves your mood or they think you are pretty and again they still think it looks much better on you to smile than to frown

Because depending on how he said it, he was probably trying to being nice since he saw a frown on your face or you had a straight face so he was like "come on you should smile more"

Yeah I've noticed men who do that to women as well. I don't get it either because I never see women telling men to "smile." Maybe it's an excuse to talk to you? I'm not entirely sure

Convincing yourself just to smile can change a bad mood into a good one. Hopefully these men are just wanted to cheer you up. Either way, don't ask people to smile, you never know what they are going through and it's not always so simple.
