Why does he say I should find myself a new crush?

My guy friend who hinted of liking me some time back is very good to me. I'm good to him too. He encourages me to go for new life experiences. I'm in a new city with a new job and so he tells me it's time to find myself a new crush and that I should find myself a 'sweet potato' .
What does this mean though, none of my friends guys or girls have encouraged me to find myself someone.
