Guy comes back for another chance after I stopped talking to him last year. Should we talk again?

Long story short, he was hot and cold last year. So, I stopped talking to him and I told him why. 5 months later he's back talking about another chance and he apologized for his behavior.

If he's genuinely aware of his previous behaviour and won't do it again than you can see how it goes, BUT just be wary because he may just be coming back to look for validation or he's lonely and knows you did like him before so you'll give him attention again.
Take note of his actions and if he gives you any signs of being hot and cold again, remove yourself.
If you want to give him another chance, I'd recommend withholding some of your attention from him, let him make an effort to prove he's not playing games again.
