Sounds like he was playing the field to to figure out what he wants (although that isn't necessarily true). I would suggest not making anything about pride if you're not in an exclusive relationship. If you really like spending time with this guy and being around him then go for it. If you don't, then don't. Once you're in an exclusive relationship you can be more serious about being respected more in terms of talking to other girls but I would be wary of condemning someone for their behaviour when they have absolutely no obligation to you considering you're both single.
